I’m Alayne,

After living and working in the United States for ten years, I returned to the UK and to the place I am proud to call home—the islands of Orkney.

The renovation of an old family farm building marked the beginning of my woodworking practice. What started as a practical project soon became a focused pursuit: designing and building bespoke cabinetry for our home, including the kitchen, utility room, and bathroom. The process confirmed a deep appreciation for well-made objects, honest materials, and careful craftsmanship.

I hold a degree in painting, and my professional background reflects a strong foundation in both design and finish. While working in the United States, I was involved in the construction and finishing of high-end homes, specialising in the sanding, staining, and finishing of large-scale logs and timbers, alongside detailed painting and decorative work. This experience instilled a disciplined approach to surface, proportion, and detail—qualities that inform every piece I produce today.

I now focus on creating bespoke woodworking and cabinetry, building considered, enduring pieces that reflect both place and purpose.

Thoughtful design, honest materials, and craftsmanship that endures.
